Slaughter House Five

SITUATION: This project is a take on Jessica Hische daily drop cap project. I chose a book I found interesting (Slaughter House Five) and created a letterform to convey the feeling and important message from the book.

CONCEPT: One of the biggest themes of the book is the concept of non-linear time. Vonnegut uses clocks as a visual representation of this theme. I decided to design a “V” which was build by clock hands. Eyes and vision are another dominate theme of the book. I decided to make a simple eye that seemed part of the clock hand, but upon looking at it longer the viewer would be able to distinguish it as an eye. The red color of the book reflects different events such as the fire-bombings and blood found in the slaughter house.
